The Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition is back for 2025 at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park from March 1 through April 30, 2025. This annual event, the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the United States by the way, transforms the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory into a haven for thousands of butterflies, offering visitors an immersive experience into the world of these beautiful creatures.

When you step into the 15,000-square-foot conservatory, you'll step into the lush tropical greenery and blooms, which creates a serene environment where butterflies freely flutter around. With over 7,000 tropical butterflies representing more than 60 species, including the striking blue morpho and the vibrant monarch, the conservatory becomes a living kaleidoscope of colors.

The exhibition not only showcases the beauty of these insects but also educates visitors about their life cycles and ecological importance. Interactive displays and observation areas allow guests to witness the metamorphosis from chrysalis to butterfly, providing a deeper understanding of these fascinating creatures. To enhance your experience, consider visiting during the early morning or late afternoon when the conservatory is less crowded, allowing for a more intimate interaction with the butterflies.

Don't miss this opportunity to witness the mesmerizing display of butterflies in a tropical paradise. Plan your visit to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park this spring and consider staying at the Leonard at Logan House Bed and Breakfast located in the historic district of downtown Grand Rapids.
