Several guests have asked about the history of the Leonard @ Logan House so here is a first among many posts to come.
The architects were Williamson & Crow and they included in the house features such as centralized vacuum, electric wiring, and steel I-beams. These three were not common features in homes of that time period. The vacuum duct work is no longer present but the vacuum itself is still in the house. Of course, the electric has been upgraded to meet today’s standards and the steel I-beam construction has enabled the house to remain very strong over the years.
The cement stucco exterior, believe it or not, has not been touched for 105 years. It is original, never been painted. The blackening of the stucco is naturally occurring and cannot be cleaned off – even with a power-washer. Not bad for 105 being years old.
